3 Types of Incentive Websites – #3 Both Forum Traffic and Pure Traffic

This is the 3rd and final installment of the “3 Types of Incentive Websites.” Before you read this post, read the first and second posts so you have a grasp of what the other traffic types entail.

First part: 3 Types Of Incentive Websites – #1 Forum Traffic

Second Part: 3 Types Of Incentive Websites – #2 Pure Traffic

To do a little recap, here are the 3 types:

Forum Websites

Pure Traffic Websites

Both Forum and Pure Traffic Websites

This post will talk about both forum and pure traffic. I will slowly build on things incentive website owners should know about the industry and the traffic it gets.

Both forum and pure traffic websites have a good amount of traffic coming from each, I would say in the 50/50 or 60/40 range. There’s not much to tell about this type of website except for why I believe that it’s something that is better than being a forum type of website, but not good enough as a strictly pure traffic website.

It might come as a surprise that I say that, but I’m the type of person that does not like to rely and put my income in the hands of other people, at all. What I mean by that is the fact that if you ever get kicked off the forum, well there goes 50% – 40% of your income. That is a major dive in your profits. That’s pretty much like getting demoted at a corporate job.

An example of this type of website I believe would be Trainn.org. You might be surprised that I said that, but I believe it’s true. Go to any freebie forum and you will see one of their websites there. I checked out the “FLR” forum and saw many users having their websites up for “trades.” Imagine if Trainn is banned from that forum, there goes a good portion of their profits.I’m sure they are smart enough not to rely on forum traffic though.

My advice to many people is that it’s okay to advertise in forums and places that are in the hands of other people, but please do not rely on these places and believe you will be making the same amount of money from month to month. Forum traffic fluctuates, one month you are the “in” website, another month you are not. It has the most competition and you will not always be on top.

I would personally say that having about 80% pure traffic and 20% forum traffic is a great ratio. This way if anything happens to your reputation in the forums, you only take a 20% dive in overall profits. It’s okay for you to enjoy the vast amount of temporary profit forum traffic brings you, but concentrate more on the pure traffic. Track where all your traffic is coming from and take advantage of the places that you see traffic coming from outside of the forums.

This is what both forum traffic and pure traffic incentive website is. If you are a both forum traffic and pure traffic website, please comment on how your experiences are and what other information you can provide. In later posts, I will be talking about different ways to increase your traffic. I believe that if an incentive website wants to know how to gain more traffic, they will need to understand the category they fit in, as well as the other categories. Once the categories have been discussed, we can move on to the way to obtain more traffic.

In theory, this would be optimal.

Pure traffic is very good but to have 80% pure traffic for a site is very, very difficult.

But good points and a good post.

There are so many forums out there right now, its good to get on as many as you can as long as they dont “charge” or require “donations” so high that you have to close your doors before you even open.
